Laziness and Voter Apathy..

Well...sooo...i couldn't vote. Silly me for registering as an Independent. heh heh...So i changed my party. After the wait, the talkin to random strangers about Fenty/Gray, an my regret about changing my party, an impromptu interview with a chika who turned in an app work, loved her, an then got laughed at by the poll workers when i didn't fill out the change of party form correctly, it was a good first DC voting experience. Heh heh... At least they got a laugh. All this in like a half hour. The only good thing is the voting spot is RIGHT on top of the metro station! Nice....VOTE FENTY!

VOOOOOOOOOOOOTE! now.

So i just recently got my DC ID, my DC voter registration card...next? Beside's voting today, a DC liberry card...heh heh...Don't ask who ima vote for cause i really don't wanna come down on Vincet "count chocula" Gray...

Bad boys, bad boys! Whatcha gonna do...?

I dunno if it was something in the air, the outstanding DC tap water, low numbers on their quotas, but MPD was out in force today. Along my half hour bike ride to work i came across the following: 1 house raid, 1 guy getting stuffed int the back of a cop car, 1 homeless guy talking to the cops. On my way home, P St. was blocked at 15th St with at least 4 cruisers. And as i rolled up on my street, i found it blocked (its a narrow one way street) by 3 cruisers and a huge cop van. My guess is they were shakin down the park for weed smokin and drinking. Oh well, if there ever was a day filled with signs on whether i should move out, this was it. I'm eyeballin SW... That's it, laaaater....

An Asian 4th...

So yesterday we decided to get a jump on the holiday that i was sure was gonna be swimming in humanity. Up an out to lunch around 5pm. I guess that's dinner. Anyway, me an steve at at "Tono" a great sushi joint. http://www.tonosushi.com/. We had the spicy tuna, smoked salmon, california roll, two crab sticks, an our individual choices; steve got yellow tail and i got boiled octopus. yeah i know, but hey, i'm on a tryin something new kick. Plus it was pretty good...Steve lost his Smartcard, so i gave him mine which forced me to get a farecard. Like a common tour-on. It had been so long since i used one, i forgot how to use it when forced into the handicapped lane. Thus, making me look like a real tourist. Anyway, we headed downto SW to "The Cantina Marina"( http://www.cantinamarina.com/) only to be shut out by a private party upstairs. Man. Then we walked to the Jefferson Memorial, stopping by the wharf, which i never knew was there! Man! Fresh seafood like right there! We ended up going back to SW an ended up at "Jenny's Asian Fusion and Lounge" (http://www.jennysdc.com/). It was very interesting. I was asian cafeteria up front, dive bar in the back. You had to walk through all the nice people havin dinner, talkin about their day--sharing. Then you get to the "shipwreck" inspired bar. All i have to say is $3 pints. No better deal in the district. Plus we got to "sample" shots all night long. That happens when your bartender's been drinkin longer than you. The fireworks were okay; not as good as last year, but we saw them from the 14th ST bridge. So we saw not only DC, but Rosslyn, Arlington, and all of SE's. That was awesome! Then back in for more drinks, more harassment. Metro'd home an passed out....Pretty good day! How was your 4th?

Double Barrel Shotguns...

So today i went to work, on my day off, earlier than requested. It was an awesome bike ride. Finally, no humidity! I am worried though, about bikin this weekend with all the tour-ons, an out of state-ers; I get to play in traffic! Anyway i digress.... I got to fully unload on my underachieving co-manger (someone everyone's been bitching about, but won't say anyting to). It was cathartic. I didn't realize how much i had trapped inside. I did manage to keep all the verbal parts work related, but the passion and emotion was other-worldly! My horoscope said something about "maintaining a positive attitude", so i did. I think i need to assert myself more often....

Room 11

Soooo....i went out with steve. For so long we walked by Room 11 an marveled at the small interior an small patio seating; made it seem profiled. I had the the Pad Tai Beef and he had the Panini. Both were so bland saw dust would have been a fitting side dish. The open patio, the people, the stars, and present company all made up for it. Oh yeah, the Reisling and the Juno wine did some damage...If you're thinking of a hipster CoHi place to eat, wait for the latin farmers market on Columbia, i'm sure their food is prepared with more love. That's it...Laaaater....

6.30.2010

So this is my very first post on my very first blog! Sadly, it's not gonna be lengthy or great! Not much went on today. I got up early and finally after living in DC for a year, got my ID card. The DC DMV was pleasantly quick an friendly. Although i did wait for 30mins to get in, then 30 mins for the rest of the process. The lovely lady who put me "in the system" made a joke about my KY birth certificate. She herself had a Jamaican accent. I registered as an Independent organ donor; i can sell my own organs. heh heh... So the DMV is literally right across the street from my work, so naturally i was still late. It's impossible to be on time ANYTIME in DC. The rest of the day went well till i had a run in with a local, an apparently frequent, customer to my store who is a psycho alcoholic. I didn't know whether to call the police or the psych unit. Anyway, blog blog blog....The bike ride home was outstanding. I realized i really don't pay attention to cars anymore....That's it. Laaaater...
